The Cotswolds is the largest of all the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to be found in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Located in the west of England, this stunning landscape is unique for its green meadows, undulating hills and dry stone walls.
Rare limestone grasslands have contributed to the Cotswolds being designated for specific conservation and protection under the Wildlife and Conservation Act in England.
This vast landscape covers nearly 800 square miles of beautiful English countryside and still supports a commercially important agricultural sector that dates back to the Iron Age. Roman-era highways still form the foundations of modern-day roads that both support the transport of goods, but more importantly the incoming throngs of local and international tourists that make this area a very important destination in the United Kingdom.
